School Lunch Supplier Selection

Children and teenagers need a large amount of energy when they are growing up. At the same time, they undergo a number of biological changes and physical growth that require an enormous amount of protein, calcium and iron. These can be met by having a balanced diet. Hence, the provision of healthy lunch at school is important for students. The Department of Health suggests that an ideal lunch should be able to meet one third of the daily nutritional needs of a school child. In accordance with the local Food Guide Pyramid, a school lunch should provide grains (such as rice, pasta, noodles, potatoes or bread), vegetables and meat in the ratio of 3:2:1. This can improve children's ability to concentrate and to learn more effectively. Therefore, the selection of the RIGHT school lunch supplier is one of the important events at Maryknoll.
